The Truth of War

What is the Truth of War for a soldier?  Is it that war is violent?  That war is cold and cruel?  That war turns you into a stronger person?  This is what we have been studying for the past couple of months in Humanities.  We first read All Quiet on the Western Front, written by German war veteran Erich Maria Remarque.  This book is about World War One, and follows the experiences of Paul, a young soldier fighting in the war.  Then, we turned to World War Two and Slaughterhouse Five, written by Kurt Vonnegut.  Neither of these books could be specified as strictly anti-war novels which inspired my project, a box.  Yes, it is more elaborate than it seems, painted with pictures corresponding to a poem that I have written: Beast Called War.  We will be having an exhibition tomorrow night on the projects, where I will post pictures and the poem, explaining more about my views and how the project represents them.  See you then!
